Taken 3 took first place at the box office this weekend by earning $40.4 million and scoring the second-highest January opening ever. Meanwhile, civil rights drama Selma landed in a distant second place earning $11.2 million during its debut weekend. And Disney’s Into the Woods took in $9.75 million for third place. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies grabbed fourth place by adding $9.44 million to its now $236.5 million total. And Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken closed out the Top Five by bringing in $8.4 million.
